Time remaining for FREE reports: DEAD!!!
**Can I still run reports as of (6/23/2009)? : NO! **

Contributing forum members only. (i.e. not 'i signed up yesterday and saw this great deal and I am going to pm in hopes of getting reports')

PM me with your:
VIN# for a report and
E-mail address as well so I can fwd the report to you.
Post a reply to this thread when you get the report.

*make sure your VIN# is valid (i.e. 17 characters)

Update:
Looks like I've finally made it past 25 reports! :) Worry not... Keep them coming!!! [check post below for pic in honor of 25 reports]

New policy:
Requests made by contributing members only.
What I mean is that if you got a fresh profile (i.e. 4/26/2009) with zero posts, zero threads the likelihood of me running a report for you will be very slim next to none. What this shows to me is that you came to the board only to leech and have little to offer to the community. I've put this new restriction because I've given out the 'Freebies' already and now I will only offer my help to the ones that really need it.

Enjoy the reports and your respective cars!

Make sure to post on this thread after you've received your report so I know you got it. My inbox is getting full so reply here on the thread!!!

you know i really wonder how they know, they only know if work has been done on the vehicle if the company doing the repairs reports them i guess.

If the repairs report it. If the cops report it.

If you just hit a dog or a deer and you fix it at some small shop and tell them to keep it quiet you those companies doing the checks will never know.

So essentially you are counting on the honesty of the owners to some extent. This does, however, protect you from the BIG ones where you actually hit someone else or the car got into something serious (high speed into wall, tree, deer). In those cases cops would most likely show up and report it.

The other way to protect yourself is doing a pre-purchase inspection at a reputable shop. They will know if the frame has seen some impact or not and if the panels have been painted on or if there is clay on bent panels. For the clay detection you can just get a magnet and go over the car. Bodyshops try to mix in some ferrite clay but there is a difference between.

Bring a stethoscope to listen to the valves and bring a compression tester if the owner allows you to do a quick test. Smell the tranny fluid (if ATF) for any funny 'burnt' smells. Take out the distick to see if there is any foaming (coolant) in the oil. Open the coolant tank to see if it oily (head gasket). See if it has funny sounds when it turns (power steering).

Rest of the repairs are just routine and painful. (CV, shocks, wheel bearings, brake (line, rotor, pad), tie joints... List goes on forever. Which is why it is better to lease a car that is new and take advantage of the manufacture's warranty period then sell it back to the dealer to drive another new car! However, if your heart goes out for the older cars then make sure you check your purchase so as to not get a Lemon.

Got it thanks! Now if you'll excuse me I need to choke the person I bought this car from. Good day.

Hahaha! Keep them COMING!!!! :D

sidenote: They offer 60 days and 'Unlimited Reports' but 'warn' you at 25? I mean, what if you are a VERY conscious buyer and your out looking at A LOT of cars? I guess they want the ideal customer to run 3-5 reports and leave the account unused for 40 days. :) Zero-sum game, right? Hehe, someone has to play Robin Hood.

@ jjager85: hahaha! :) Get on it before the deal expires!

Some of you might of missed out on the Memorial Day promotional but don't worry because all you have to do now is PM me with the title:

2[H]4CROOKS

and you will receive a free Autocheck car report and protect yourself against lemon purchases!

*include VIN# & your e-mail address in the body of the msg.

I'm just replying to this b/c I just did the AutoCheck on my car thanks to a thread I saw on SD in April and finally acted upon it. It's a 4-page report for my 7 y/o car - not bad, I guess. (I'm the original owner.) I wonder how this report compares to a CarFax report.

Thread starter, even though I didn't personally benefit from it, just want to thank you for the service you're providing to [H].

:) You can always run another one for free to see how your car is doing NOW. Anyone else want a report?

Thanks, but I just ran it yesterday.

If you don't mind, I can ask a few close friends (who aren't on [H]) if they'd like a free AutoCheck and send their VIN info. to you via my PM.

BTW...

Free reports will be available for the next 3 Weeks and after no more reports!

Get them while you can!
