Is there any reason why the framerate counter in the corner disappears with resolutions under 1280x768? My native revolution is 1920x1080 if that helps. Any solutions would be appreciated.

Wait so you're talking about all and every resolution including 4:3? Whats your monitor and see if there's a setting for 1:1 pixel mapping or pixel aspect ratio (PAR).

Any resolution 1280x720 and under makes the fraps framerate counter disappear. I have 24" samsung 16:9 monitor.

Full Screen and/or Windowed?

Because I'm able to run FRAPS just fine on DOSBox and a few other games I have that are below 720p. Granted, they're in windowed mode though.

Try to switch the position of the counter, also you might take a screenshot of the game with Fraps and have it show the counter in it. If you can see it, the problem is just your monitor cropping the side with lower resolutions. Hard to imagine that would happen with 4:3 resolutions though.

I'm pretty sure its just cropping it out cause when I tried to lower it below 720p I saw the corner of the counter showing then it disappeared. And its when I run it in full screen mode.

yeah its because your monitors/windows is cropping the screen to fit 4:3 into it.. move the counter to the bottom left of the screen should show up there.. since windows should be cropping the top and right side of the screen..

I just ran a few of my games @ different resolutions.

640x480
800x600
1024x768
1280x768
1920x1200

Tried both OpenGL and D3D games and Windowed and Full Screen mode. I didn't have a problem with FRAPS in any cases.

I guess the next questions would be, what hardware are you running, what games are you trying to use FRAPS on, and what version of FRAPS are you using? Why not try capturing a movie or screenshot and see what the output is?

I've tried crysis, far cry 2, hl2 and bioshock. Ill run some tests when I get home and take some screenshots.

As for my specs:
Intel core2duo e8400 3.0ghz
4 gb ddr2 corsair dominator @ 1066mhz
Geforce 9800 gtx+
Vista 32 bit
Asus p5q pro MB

Can you define what opengl & d3d is Nytegard

They're graphics API's, both of which FRAPS can use.

Anyway, I tried Crysis, as that's the only game I have installed out of the ones you listed, although I own all of them with the exception of Far Cry 2.

This is a screen capture running @ 800x600 in Crysis, and FRAPS seems to work fine. I could try the other games, although I doubt they'll behave any differently.

I'm guessing you're using an old version of FRAPS, or have bad video drivers.

Ill take a screenshot and post it soon, and ill check if there's any new drivers for my video card and ill check the version of fraps.

I don't think you need to post a screen shot. I was just meerly suggesting taking one to make sure FRAPS is working. (The only reason I posted the above is to guarantee you that it does work at low resolutions).

I know with several games I have, it's very finicky and will stop working for one reason or another.

Just make sure you don't have your FPS overlay hidden.

I took 2 screenshots, one with the resolution at 1280x768 and the other at 1280x720. The FPS counter shows up in both images so it is working, just not showing up at the latter resolution. I have version 2.9.8 build 7777

just updated to latest version 3.2.3. The corner of the counter shows up for a short while, then disappears.

edit: so i tried some lower resolutions and it shows up in full screen mode, just not the one i want which is 1280x720.
Could my monitor have anything to do with it? Samsung syncmaster 2333 16:9 1920x1080 native

The monitor will only be an issue if it can't actually display 1280x720. Being that it can apparently, it's not an issue.

I just tried Crysis @ 1280x720, and it works fine.

FRAPS is fairly simple in that it works as an overlay. At this point, it's probably just a device problem. It could be driver related (did you make sure to get the latest drivers?), or worst case, hardware related. You can test this out easily by seeing if Steam overlays work at that low resolution.

Video drivers are up to date.
Just tried it on modern warfare 2 and half life 2 again, seems like the top portion of the steam overlay where the time and stuff is is slightly off the top of the screen in the 1280x720 resolution in all the games, and only that resolution. So weird. Also when i first start up the game in that resolution, the steam box that pops up in the corner when you start a game is halfway missing in the corner.

So it turns out that this is also a problem not only in game. I changed my resolution to 1280x720 for my desktop and the icons were disappearing off the top of the screen and the task bar was halfway missing but they didn't when i set it to any other resolution.
