Well I'm looking for input on Video capture software for catching some of my fun moments gaming. Fraps and game cam are the two I've heard about. Any and all info is welcome.

Thanks a bunch! :D

I think those are the only 2. Fraps is pay only now so most people use gamecam.

Just depends on your needs/system. Fraps has better quality because it dumps uncompressed video to your HD, while GameCam does not. GameCam compresses the video first and also uses (i believe) a different method for writing it on your HD. Basically it goes like this:

Fraps: Better quality, but requires a good system to record videos at any respectable resolution. But if you're going to upload your videos to say youtube, that's not much of an issue. For example, even if you had a system with a slow HD and CPU, you could still get away with running your game at 800x600 or 640x480. So not only would it perform decently while recording, people wouldnt notice much of a difference because of how youtube downsizes videos to 320x240.

GameCam: Not as good quality (you wont really notice, unless you nitpick), and uses a compression scheme while recording so it doesnt chew up HD space like Fraps can. It's also alot less taxing on the system and you can still get respectable frame rates at respectable resolutions while recording.

I have used both and I liked GameCam better.

i bought fraps years ago and game cam a year or so ago and i still use fraps, i think i had GC installed maybe twice...
i just dont like it..fraps is simple and does what i want, tells me the fps and lets me record video and take screens and thats all i need, i can encode my own videos and whatnot so

I have always used fraps, works well and is really well integrated with my Logitech G15 keyboard LCD :)

Plus for fraps is that is does support the g15 keyboard and display your fps on the lcd of the keyboard.

Ya but they are giving the full version of Fraps away for free. Picked mine up at the bay. ARRRRRRRRRGH!
