hi, are there any cases out like the fragbox or the hornet pro w/o the big price tag. I already know about the qpack, microfly, qmicra and sg01, just wondering if there were any other small footprint cases out there that don't cost $300.

no, FNW has a contract with silverstone to make them. the sg01 is the closest thing to it, it essentially is a fragbox but SS has to make changes to agree with FNW's agreement.

thanks, thats too bad i really like the setup of the fragbox just don't see it being worth $300. I guess ill wait till the qmicra comes down in price or hope someone wants to sell there hornet pro.

I am told the Qmicra will come down in price sometime this year but who knows. I maintain that if they sold them for $150 then they would sell lots of them...probably more than the SG01

yea i really like that case a lot but can't justify spending so much for it, if it was $150 i would most likely buy one today. It s by far one of the nicer silver cases i have seen.

I hope to review this case one day because it probably is the best made SFF case available. I don't think people realize that this case is anodized alumnium, completly removable (as in the stuff inside), and has a fully colored inside (for the black). The thing is correctly priced for the number they sell but I hope they can produce more to lower the costs. Even $199 is probably a good price for this case (if mass produced).

yea i totally understand why it costs so much, its im just a poor collede boy who spends too much on computer parts as it is.

yea i agree with steeeeve on the pricing.. i'm putting some cash away to build a new system and if they lower the price a bit it would be great i'd get it today if they lowered it

I can say this as aqmicra owner, at 150 it would be a bargain, at 199 I would buy another one. It is one of the most well designed cases I have ever had the pleasure of working on. I can have mine completely apart in less than 3 minutes. (Hard drives, optical, PSU and everything out) also, I don't need any tools to do it.

LOL i was just about to order a QMICRA because i thought it was like 299$ but then i saw 379$ and i LOL'd.

If it was 299...or even 249$ ide buy a black one.

i looked on their website and didn't see it. you have a link to it by chance?

cool thanks...lol wow that looks just like it. any word when it comes out. and any info on the lian li v300 i think? or something like that.

the more I think about it, the more I'm liking the v300. Silver PC (I've never head of them) says it should arrive on the 20th of this month. First I thought it was ugly, but the look is growing on me. The reason I'm starting to become a fan is becasue the front area underneath the 3.5 bay looks like it has space to hold another HD using some bay extenders and that possibility makes me very happy, as I like to keep my windows installs on seperate HD's from the rest of my stuff. :D

If anyone is still looking for a case, I have an sg01e in black that I used for 3 weeks before getting the qmicra. As expensive as the qmicra is, the price tag matches the build quality and attention to detail and consideration to future modding. Anodized metal is a lot different than your typical brushed aluminum, anyone in the auto business can tell you how expensive it is to anodize a piece.

Anodizing is pretty much rusting...but some metals get stronger this way.
