Fractal Design R2

Same thoughts on the door. Never been a fan of 'em.

Too bad its only for sale in Europe. It's a pretty nice case.

hmmm too bad it's not aluminum like the A05B, otherwise it's a nice looking case though, seems to have better cooling than a non-modded a05.

I've always been torn about doors. They make the case look cleaner, but yeah.. hate having them in the way

I don't like doors either. They look like they would impede airflow. And they also hide your drive coolers, fan controllers, etc.

Should ship to NA as well. I was readng that price was ~$100. Pretty good IMO. Quality looks good, and you don't have to mod anything for fans.

I just wish they have a version without the door. I swore never to have a door again after my Antec SX1030. The good old days, when we were burning CD's to store data. :D

1) doors doesn't make airflow problematic in any way. Look at my case - Lian Li PC-V1110A. It does have even smaller holes on sides, yet it cools all the hardware pretty good.
2) My problems are only the holes at top and side. Without them, this case would be a ideal low cost case for general use.

I'm going to order it for fileserver, but the date when they are going to be delivered is still unknown.

I need this case... i'm in Canada... any way of getting it here in north america...i didnt' see anything listed in there where to buy section. Is there any other similar cases like this... i need the 8 x 3"5 drive bay setup like this one... its perfect for my htpc/media storage machine.

Longer video cards might be an issue, especially with the latest 5xxx series.
Case still looks good, though would be better without the side vent and if filters were added to the top vents.

5870 is inch longer than motherboard's width and has side pointing power connectors so at least that should fit:

(and 5850 is shorter)

Door of V-serie is actually very mediocre airflow wise: It has only few very tiny slots while avoiding airflow bottleneck needs lot more hole area, like holed/slotted edge in this Fractal Design or Lian Li's A71B/F.

And that was my point - if holes of PC-V1110A are enough to keep a system with i5 750 and HD5870 pretty cool, then holes at sides of this case door are going to be more than enough.

Looks like a nice case, I like the option to add a second fan on the front, but without it's not like there is a big gab that looks obnoxious. The cable management reminds me of the corsair 800D. What is up with the design of the inside of the back? It looks like a black plastic bag lol. See what I'm talking about at the rear heatsink access slot and the space behind the harddrive shelf?

The holes on top and on the side of the case are actually covered with removable "bitumen plates"

Also, there are 3 places for exhaust fans ( 2 on the top and 1 on the back ) as well as 4 places for intake ( 1 on the side, 1 on the bottom and 2 in the front )

I have preordered a black one to replace my ancient Addtronics 7896a. Should arrive in about a week!
