FPS on 3 monitors

I was wondering how playable games would be if running three monitors. Currently, the monitors I have are 3 27 inch monitors all the same model and 1920x1080 resolution. The graphics card I use is a gtx 780. I was reading up benchmarks online and found that many games have under 60fps even with a gtx 780 graphics card. I'm wondering how much worse that FPS would be if you gamed simultaneously on three monitors. This is assuming graphics are set on high.

Thanks in advance.

You are trying to render 6million pixels at 5760 x 1080. That's a lot. If you want more than 60fps you will most likely need a 2nd card.

With 1 780 you could probably get into the high 30s maybe 40s (not average) but 60 at high settings with 1 would be a stretch.

If you can swing it get 1 more, personally I'd run 3 with triple monitors but that's just me.

I have ran 2 cards before with 3 monitors just fine, I have never tried 1 card before.

It depends a lot on the game. I can't really comment on shooters since I mostly stick to RPGs and strategy games. You'll probably be fine with a lot of those. For MP shooters you'll need more GPU. I've got 75% more pixels (3x 2560x1440) and less than 75% more GPU (2x680 in SLI) on a good day, so if I can run it I'm pretty sure you can.

Some games I've played recently...
Civilization 5: Runs well on a single 680 at 7680x1440 with everything maxed. It might be running at 20FPS, but it's a damned smooth 20FPS if it is.
Witcher 2: 2 680s in SLI is marginal at best at 7680x1440 with everything but ubersampling on. FPS is in the 30-40 range most of the time. Probably doable, but I'd have to turn down some settings.
Dragon Age 2: Runs well on SLI 680s at 7680x1440, annoyingly choppy on one 680. You should be ok in surround.
Skyrim: Haven't really gotten going with it but I did load it up & run it for a few minutes. Felt ok with SLI 680s at 7680x1440.

running crysis 3 with 2 titans on 7680x1600 resolution with EVERYTHING on max, I get around 25 FPS average...
But that's with 7680x1600 which is 12M pixels, double that of a 5760x1080, so I'd say u'd get a 45~50 FPS with 2 titans, I think even with 2 780, the reason I got a TITAN is the 6GB VRAM, you can get away with 3GB with 5760x1080, but no way with a 7680x1600... I get around 4GB of usage in VRAM when I set everything on max with crysis at that screen...
Planning to get a 3rd titan :p

I have been using either NVidia Surround or AMD Eyefinity since there was such a thing.
I use three 1920 x 1200 monitors......or 5760 x 1200.....

It depends a lot on the game and game engine.

Half-Life 2 on a single GTX 780, no problem
Maybe even Bioshock or other Unreal engine products or DX9 renders.

Take something graphically intense like FarCry3 or Metro:Last Light.....sorry pal.....single monitor only, even with the 780. If you want fast frame rates on three monitors, you'll need SLi or CrossFire

I'll put it this way, I just got two GTX 780s installed over the weekend......I can play Metro:LL all day long on three monitors, but if I enable Advanced PhysX....game over...chug,chug,chug......and that's with two highly overclocked 780s.
