Hey guys,

Just reformatted my computer and I thought everything was running nice and smooth. I installed Diablo 2 and I began playing, but the game is very choppy, my fps is about 20-40 when I play but before my reformat it was 60 and higher, Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Diablo 2 favors glide - so it worked really well with voodoo cards from way back when. However, you can try to force the game to run in opengl or dx, do you remember which one you were using before when you had a better FPS rate?

Make sure the obvious stuff first...Update your Sound and Video Drivers:

OR:
Run the game in 2D mode if you are currently running in 3D mode:
-Click on Start>Programs>Diablo II>Video Test.
Run the test and select 2D as your option

Also, make sure that you go to battle.net and get the latest patch for the game (I think they are up to v1.10 now).

Alright,

I went and changed to 2d (directdraw) and although the game doesn't look as pretty now it is running perfectly. Thanks =)

2d for diablo2 sux. Try running with the same drivers you had installed before. The newest drivers aren't always the best.
