Hi, I am complete FPS newbie. I just starting to like to play FPS because I like to play capture the flag lol............(I tried that in quake 2 and fall in love with it)

I want to ask, for the current new RTS game like Half-life 2, Doom 3 + expansion, Quake 3 + expansion if there is any or other new RTS game, which one of this game here has Capture the flag?

If any of this has CTF (capture the flag), can I make a team of real players vs a team of computer players when we lan?

Thanks :)

I haven't played CoD, but counter-strike is in no way capture the flag. You can't try UT2004/2003. Those have AWESOME capture the flag games, I owned both and they're awesome, you'll have loads of fun on those.

Of course it is. Just the hostages are a type of flag.
As is the bomb.

Your missing the point, Counter-Strike is shit, so you wouldnt play it anyway.

For people vs bots i'd go with UT2k4, they're quite smart if you crank it up so it'll present some good challanges. Also, theres conquest modes and death-ball so you won't get bored easily :)

Counter-Strike is NOT a type of CTF. Rescuing the hostages vaguely resembles CTF but 80% of the time the round ends because everyone died, not because you captured the hostages.

The best CTF game right now is UT2004 as far as I'm concerned.

people vs bots = human team (friends and I) vs computer teams (the game AI) ?
Unreal 2004 let you do that for CTF ?

Another vote for UT2004 CTF... and VCTF (Vehicle CTF) if you "really" want to have some interesting (ie frustrating) fun. :)

Peace,
Tim

Everything in UT2004 is awesome. I know many people dont like it but Mutant and Invasion are some of my favorite modes to play. CTF, DM, TDM, BR are just huge bonuses :)

q3 instagib and jedi academy saber only ctf are the best ctf games ive ever played, and yes ive played ut2k4 ctf. id like to try tou the hl2ctf and the d3 exp ctf.

All the games you listed are FPS games, not RTS...RTS is real-time strategy, like Starcraft, Warcraft, etc.

Best CTF I've ever played is Halo on the PC. It gets roundly knocked, but hot damn, I've yet to play a PC game that has more fun CTF.

Oh man, Tribes and Tribes: Vengeance probably have the best CTF, but unfortunately the communities just aren't there if you're looking for a huge game. UT2004 would be your second best option then.

BTW, Best Buy is having a 2 for $20 sale (buy 1 get 1 free) on Chronicles of Riddick, Tribes: Vengeance, Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising, and Men of Valor. If you did want to try out T:V, this would be a cheap way to do it (you could probably make most of your money back from the second game by selling it online).

I love CTF more than any other gametype, and I agree that UT2k4 has great CTF. The problem is, online not a lot of people play it as compared to the Onslaught mode ... and of the CTF servers that *are* populated, half of them run CTF-Facing Worlds nonstop, and half of the rest are low grav/instagib :(

If you plan on just playing with yourself and friends on a private server one of you runs, than no worries.

And fwiw, the original Unreal Tournament had the best CTF of all time. Pretty ugly looking in comparison to UT2k4 though ;)

Best CTF game has to be Soldier of Fortune II by a mile. Excellent game play and nice and fast. :D ;)

Halo has some great CTF if you are willing to experience a horrible port of it to the PC.

You could always try the Xbox version of it too (which I like much more).

;)

SOFII CTF is by far the best CTF if you like a more realistic type of game. It's too bad that the game is starting to die out...and no real hopes for SOFIII in sight.

Other than SOFII, I really like the UT2K4 CTF and Instagib CTF. I also enjoy Q3 CTF and UT CTF.
