FPI?

Well, google has let me down. Maybe someone can help me out.

FPI, how is this measured? I'm assuming by just by counting each fin. Or is it each set ("V")?

Also what ranges are ideal for each type of fan?

Google tells me most are 20fpi, and they are good for low to mid speed fans. The rads I'm looking at are 14fpi (counting each fin on frozencpu, looking at magicool 3x180).

So what type of fan is needed for low fpi, and what is needed for high. Also what's considered low fpi and what's considered high?

Thanks

It is not each set of "V" - a "V" will count as two fins.

20 fpi is quite dense and therefore not suited for low to medium fans but rather high speed fans - I'd say at least 1500 rpm. A low FPI is around 9 in my book and suited for 800-1200 rpm

For the rad you are looking at you might as well use the AP181's that come with your case since they are practically the best 180mm fans around (not that they have much competition). The rad is slim with medium FPI, so it should be quite easy to get some air through it.

Thanks. They just emailed me on stock alert. I'm on one bar 3G so I'll try ordering parts tonight.
