A problem just started the last few days with my 2185. I can be working on something else on my desk and the monitor will flash / flicker / refresh quickly just out of the blue. Seems to be at some undetermined interval so far. I just havent sat there and stop watched it but I would guess 30 seconds or so.

Its that flicker you see sometimes when you change the monitor resolution or a game does where it goes black for a second or less and then back to normal. I can not seem to figure it out. I have it set to 60mhz and the 1680x1050 resolution. I have heard I can force that to a higher refresh but wouldnt that be a bad thing?

Anyway the anomaly doesnt happen in games and it only seems to be when idle for a short period so far. Its almost as if the screensaver is trying to come on and then decides not to but the screensaver is set for many more minutes ahead than this timing would indicate.

Its a newer monitor (2 months maybe) and I have had no problem prior to this issue. I am running a 7600gt and I have dual monitors plugged in but one is currently turned off. I did get a new PSU, monitor, and the video card all around the same time but it has all been working fine until just the last two days. I can not think of any setting that I have fiddled with or would have caused this issue. I will probably remove and reinstall the monitor and drives in the next couple of days if I can not find another solution, but I just dont think that is the real culprit yet.

Any ideas?

Thanks much. I feel fortunate to find this place. I have spent the last 3 hours reading as apps run at work and there is a ton of good stuff here. Keep up the great information!

Ok I am up to page 30 something on the 2185 thread and nothing I can find so far, but I am still going... one other thread mentioned something else I had seen in Battlefield 2 with some minor glimmering pixels here and there at far off distances and they blamed it on video card overheating??? I just dont buy that though... I know of 3 people with the same problem. One thinks it is just the game being buggy, one thinks it is because we should turn down the detail, and another thinks it is shratnel -- now that one was classic!!

I do have another fan being added to the pc this week but that was already happening just because I am anal that way.

480w Antec True Power
7600gt
4 SATA drives
Xifi Extreme Music
4gb DDR
2 DVD/CR drives
2 individual fans (3rd expansion slot fan coming)

I guess overheating could be a problem but anyone have any experience along these lines of symptoms?
