Found old system in parents' storage

I kind of forgot about this ugly thing for a while. I hacked up some giant Russian fulltower case and attached a heatercore to the side of it and covered it in Yate Loons back when I lived with my parents. It's sitting in their basement in storage and they're starting to clean up a bit so I found it. I found some pics from when I was leak testing/overclocking.

I'd say it's been sitting for about... 3 years. The coolant's that swiftech green crap mixed with distilled or deionized or something.

Swiftech 655, Swiftech Storm, and Danger Den Maze 4.

I think I was running a 3800 x2 at 2.8 or so? with like 1.55v through it and an overclocked 7800 GTX and it kept a 4c idle to load delta for the cpu. Can I reuse any of this stuff? I was thinking of building a newer 6 core AMD system at some point. I know there are some corrosion risks but if it's not leaking and everything still works I'm not that concerned if I don't have to sink much money into the loop.

I'd probably get rid of the GPU block. I'm guessing the Maze 4 doesn't work on newer cards. How is the storm? Would it cool a 1055t with a decent overclock?

edit: I like how I didn't know what heat shrink was so I covered all the fan wires in colored decorative tape so I could tell them apart inside the case lol.

That fucking thing is ugly.:eek::eek:

I'd say you might be able to reuse the pump, maybe the radiator, IF you rinse the shit out of them.

Blocks.....the new ones are so much better I would just buy new.

I know. It is a hideous biege monster covered in orange fans with yellow guts :D It will also tip over if you don't support the radiator. It's quite funny.

Although honestly... it doesn't glow any stupid colors so it's kind of better than my 900 in that regard. And, it doesn't rattle unlike the Antec. My old Tuniq's not so great even after lapping the base. I don't think it's gonna handle anything new too well and it's loud.

I guess if I'm flushing everything, I can get a different block. The whole thing needs to be cleaned up. It's covered in cobwebs and dust.

The amazing part is that the Swiftech Hydrx solution WILL keep things from growing in the water even 4 years later.....antifreeze is a wonderful thing.:D

Yeah you can def reuse the pump and maybe the res if you want. I'd suggest swapping some metal barbs on the res though if you use it. I recently redid my loop and putting 7/16 tubing over metal barbs is WAY easier than putting it over plastic.

Also, the maze 4 might still be useful depending on what card you're planning on putting it on. I've got an MCW-60 that started its life cooling a 7800GT, then an 8800GT, and now my 5870. I've got 2 mcr-220's in the loop now and the core of the 5870 hasn't topped 45C gaming in bad company 2 with the scythe GT's at about 8v. So the older gpu blocks still absolutely pummel stock coolers if you can get them to fit on your card and you've got the radiator to handle the heat.
