i got it from my sister about a year ago and it has been sitting in a paper bag since then. Then MarioKart fo the DS comes out, so I decided to make use of the AP. I plug it into a wired linksys broadband router and it works fine with my sis' laptop, connecting to the internet and what not. But heres where the problem arises, its on default factory settings without any sort of protection activated. I used cisco's IPSU program to obtain the ip using the AP's mac addy and it came out as 192.168.1.101. And from my very very limited experience and reading the pdf manual, I input the IP into the web browser but it times out. I go into the cmd prompt and was able to ping it with no problems. Shouldn't i be able to just type in the local IP to access the settings for the AP? Or am i missing something here? I'm a total noob when it comes to this stuff. I only have the unit itself and the power adaptor/cables.

I ended up buying a WRT54G v.5 (which i totally intend to return even if i can't get the aironet to work with mario) in the mean time to play MKDS.

Its very possible that the management website has been turned off

" no ip http server"
" no ip secure-server"

It sounds like you may need connect using the console cable, to make these changes. You could also try to telnet or ssh into the box, to see if those are enabled.

Cisco's Aironet devices do not have a console port.

Reset the access point to factory defaults. Connect it up to your network and get the IP with your utility. Connect to the AP using http://<ip address>. The Cisco Aironet APs are very stable and very configurable. I'd have used that over the Linksys unit.

thanks, using port 81 worked and now i can access the settings. it does have a console port and i have it connected to from it's ethernet port to my router. now are there any dummies guides for this AP?
