Is there any plan to upgrade the forum software soon? I small forum I post at (darkmesa.com) uses the newer version, and one of the best features is the ability to reply to threads without reloading the page.

Yes an update is in the future. As for features we dont know. I will say that the quick reply feature is turned off right now and probably will be in the next version.

There is an upgrade on the near horizon, it's being planned out now. On a forum of this size and complexity along with the custom tweaks it's not as easy as some of the others. This will happen fairly soon, but there will be no quick reply....we prefer to keep the posting limited to one per 30 seconds.

Im pretty sure [H] purposly disabled the quick reply. Thought I read this in another post a couple months back, where a user asked why we dont have the option. Dont quote me on this though, im just pretty sure that is the case.

This is true, it has been available to us for quite some time, but we see no reason to impliment it at all.

So I'm assuming theres no way to have the quick reply window down at the bottom with the 30 second filter still in place?

I'm all FOR the 30 second delay, but sometimes the forum can run slow(thats understandable with the number of people surfing at any given time) and with the window it would cut out one loading screen.

making it so we all didn't have to click reply and adding a 30 second timer would reduce server load no? Albiet not much, but could lower the cost over time? Just my thought on the logic. I don't know how you guys pay bandwith fees.

Over the years we have tried all of the bells and whistles that has been offered by vBull....some just aren't for this forum with it's particuliar set of demands. It's not for lack of testing, they have been deemed either a resource hog or conflict with our customization. With the upgrade, it is likely you may see some new added features, but I doubt the quick response will be among them.
