is the Fortron 530w really that good? alot of people are recommending it. on newegg's site, it says the 12v output is 16/28A, isnt that kinda of low for such a recommended powersupply? the PC Power & Cooling's 12v is 34/38A. i have a 520w SilenX and i have a feeling its holding me back (even tho its rated at 28A 12v). since its using a very low rpm fan (low cfm) its not doing a good job cooling the powersupply, its burning hot when i touch the back.

do you guys recommend the Fortron 530 (or other ps) for my new system?:

A64 3x00 (overclocked)
BFG 6800 GT (overclocked)
x2 CD Drives
74gig raptor
160gig seagate
DD 12v Pump
x2 80mm fans
x3 120mm fans

It performs nearly as well as PC Power and Cooling supplies (after all, several of PCP&C supplies are modified Fortron units), yet it costs much, much less. One could say that Fortron is the Lite On of the power supply business, while PCP&C is the Plextor.

Anyways, it also helps that Fortron has a long-standing track record of reliability and robustness, with OEMs and enthusiasts alike, often performing well beyond its rated specifications. This model in particular comes highly recommended because it is by far the cheapest power supply in its class.

And yes, it would be a good match for your system.

I'm either getting this or an Antec NeoPower 480W to replace my Ultra X-Connect. Any other input on the fortron vs the antec?

There's no contest if you're comparing the "guts" of the power supply--the Fortron simply has more power, while maintaining very clean DC output. While the NeoPower is ATX12V 2.0 compliant, the older Fortron is just as capable if you don't need the new connectors offered in ATX12V 2.0. If you do, there are adapters out there.

Still, the NeoPower is potentially a good supply. Antec has a good track record, though not a spotless one. There aren't enough data points out there to get a good idea of the NeoPower's delivered performance and reliability.

All I need is SATA and 4pin. Fortron it is ;) Althought it would be interesting to see if I can find how long the cables are with the Fortron and see if its easy to hide the cables for a cleaner case.

will this fortron 530w KILL my 450w antec which is limited my overclocking majorly on my 6800ultra???? so if i get this no more freezing right? or at least no more psu issues.. and o yeah these has sata plugs too right? my antec doesn't.. grrrr

and how is this compared to the ocz powersteam which cost at most places 50 bucks more?
