Let me preface this by saying the hard drive currently has the cssr virus on it, is running XP professional and my optical and floppy drives do not work. I am looking to format it, I don't need to put an OS back on it, I just need it blank, when I try to do it through windows it won't allow me, is there another way? Any help would be appreciated.

Download something like DBAN and do a zero fill of the drive, you put it on a bootable floppy and run it from there. Or download the UBCD image and burn a bootable CD with tons of diagnostic and other software that has several HDD wipe programs on it.

Do the drives work during boot or not at all? If they work during boot, you can boot with a windows CD in and use the FDISK command to wipe it up. I assume you have checked the physical connection on the drives, right?

yeah if the drives dont work before windows is booted then all i have to say is that is one good coder that wrote the virus...
