Hello,

I am interested in using a newly acquired Maxtor 320gb hard drive as a second SATA drive in my computer. I currently have a 160gb drive that boots Vista. Since 160gb is so small for vista, I would like to use half of my new Maxtor as an NTFS drive for my Vista files (so 320gb total for Vista). The other half of my Maxtor, I would like to install Ubuntu on in its file system. So that would be two partitions on the Maxtor (half windows, half linux). Is this something easy to setup? I have a gigabyte P35-DS3L mobo--will I be able to select whether or not to boot to Linux or Windows (based off of what hard drive), or do I need some sort of boot loader.

I guess the alternative would be to use Maxblast that came with my new drive, clone the current 160gb Vista drive onto it and use the whole Maxtor for Vista and the smaller one for Ubuntu. Has anyone used Maxblast--is it good? What boot loader/bios setup will I need in this case to select between Vista and Ubuntu?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
