Formating harddrive for images

I checked properties for a folder that contains images on my server and got the following stats:

Size on disk: 1.37 TB
Size: 283 GB

That seems like an huge waste!

I would like to dedicate a HDD just for images, should I use another file allocation size or is there another setting I should use so I could use more storage for images?
