im trying to format my friends comp but it wont let me.

i got into dos via boot disc and type format C:

and it says "format not supported on drive."

wtf? ive never seen this before.

Could be any number of things, what size drive is it, is it SATA or PATA? Best bet is probably going to be d/ling a knoppix disk and using that, but it wont (last time i used one) let you format it NTFS. Assuming your reinstalling windows any reason why you dont trust setup to format it for you?

i tried doing the format thorugh the windows install, but it says choose a partition, and i did, and then it says "yo ucan not intsll on this partition because there is already an OS there" so I go to delete the partition and it says, "you can not delete this partition because there are windows set up files on it"

LOL
