Forcing remove encryption?

I have an issue...

A user tagged these files as encrypted. Going into each one by right-clicking hitting properties, then advanced to get to the attribute here, and clearing it, I get an error that the file is in use.

The dos command attrib does not have an encryption switch, so, trying to pass attrib -e *.* on the directory did not help.

Is there another way to force the attrib change?

Got it.

Physically went to the machine, rebooted, and changed the attributes on the files. Didn't want to boot it, it takes like 20min round trip to shut down and boot up. Ugh.

Tell me more about this method. I am a little new to the windows domain thing, but willing to learn. Would have preferred a less evasive approach as to not interrupt any users.

Right click my computer go to manage. Then Shared Folders > Open files. That will list all open files, just right click and say disconnect users

Yeah that's fun and all, but I generally get death threats when it involves work not being saved.

I *think* i got all the files unencrypted. I don't know who encrypted the files, but, damn...pain in the ass.
