I'm trying to get my laptop video out to display properly on a 1280x768 LCD TV. I installed the driver for the external monitor, and it says it's working properly, but the choices I have on the resolution slider in display setup don't include the one I need. I can make the TV display in 4:3 mode, but I really want to use the whole thing (that's sorta the point of getting a wide monitor) without it just being stretched 4:3.

Does anyone know how to force a resolution not provided (specifically 1280x768)? I know the laptop can display 1280 across, so there's no physical limit. Thanks for any help.

edit: windows XP Pro, Dell latitude, dell w2300 23" LCD TV

right-click the desktop, properties, settings tab, advanced, monitor, and uncheck the box titled "hide modes..."
