Forceware Suite and EAX

I have a Shuttle AN35N Ultra with the Realtek ALC650 audio chip/codec onboard.
When I installed the nVidia Forceware driver suite v.4.24 (including the audio component) I noticed that EAX 1 or 2 was not supported in any of my games, but I know the ALC650 codec supports EAX 1 and 2.
For a lark I thought I would try installing the ALC650 drivers off the Realtek website and presto, I had EAX 1 and 2 support in my games. nVMixer ceased to show up in my system tray and was replaced by soundman.exe.
Can it really be possible that the nVidia drivers are inferior to the ones offered by realtek, or did I not install/configure them correctly?
By installing the Realtek software did I overwrite/replace the nVidia drivers or was I just installing an additional component that I should have done in the first place?
