Ever since I updated my Forceware(latest version) my computer won't even boot up. It'll boot up until the XP logo and seconds before my desktop loads, my monitor turns off(standby) and if I switch my video cable to my onboard, it's just a blank screen but my monitor will turn back on(green). Only way that my computer will load up to desktop is if I take out my GF4mx card.
 
Well I wouldn't bother using the Forceware drivers in general. Not at this point. I have heard to many horror stories about them. Personally I would install 4x.xx series drivers instead. They are relatively bullet proof.

You need to go into safe mode and remove all the Nvida keys from the registry. If you don't know how to do that it's going to be problematic for you to correct this issue yourself. But anyway, remove the drivers and all Nvidia software from the machine and then install older drivers. 4x.xx preferably. Then when it asks you to overwrite the files tell it yes to anything it wants to overwrite. Then you should be all set to go.

PS: In safe mode uninstall the Forceware drivers THEN go into the registry and pull all the Nvidia keys. They should all be under \\HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA You can do a search while in regedit and you might find the drivers and nvidia keys elsewhere.
 
Do you have a link where I can download the old drivers? Specifically the one that you mentioned?
 
I don't think you have to reinstall Windows because of that. I had a friend who had the exactly same problem as you like 3 months ago with the forceware drivers. What I did to fix the problem was to boot into safe mode. (press f8 before Windows Boot Screen). Once in safe mode I uninstalled the forceware drivers and used "Driver Cleaner" Driver Cleaner to make sure that all the nvidia drivers are fully removed. (You can go to help in driver cleaner which explains the recommended steps to clean out the drivers). After I uninstalled and cleaned everything with driver cleaner, I rebooted. Hopefully you should be able to see your desktop again and if you do try reinstalling the drivers again and hopefully everything should be good as new. I hope this helps. Good luck!

P.S. for the registry part that Sir-Fragalot mentioned I believe Driver Cleaner will also delete those registry entries for you.
 
Yea psynotic I just did the exact same thing, but the only problem is that when ran the driver cleaner/cab cleaner in safe mode and rebooted, there was a problem detecting my gf4. My geforce4 never got detected as "Geforce 4 MX" but as "Video Controller VGA Compatible." This seems odd because it never did that when I first inserted my gf4 a year ago.
 
This is just a shot into the dark, but I think Cab Cleaner removes all entries of nvidia drivers from windows so windows does not detect your graphics card and therefore cannot install old drivers for it. Even after cleaning out everything and reinstalling the drivers you still encounter problems? If so I would definetly go with the older drivers.
 
I use 45.23's at work because I believe they were the newest drivers that were certified by Discreet Logic for the 3D Studio Max 5 & 6. Those drivers are pretty solid.
