Is there any way for force highest refresh rate in Catalyst Control Center? This is important for 120Hz LCDs and CRTs as some games seem to like getting stuck at 60Hz in certain situations (Crysis).
This used to be an issue with my NVIDIA cards until out of the blue NVIDIA actually grew a brain and added this massively useful Force Highest Available Refresh setting to their Forceware. I just about died of shock.
Anyway, I've become quite reliant on this feature and I was wondering if AMD has also taken the initiative and added some kind of force highest refresh setting. This will probably be the deciding factor in whether I get another GTX 580 or wait for the HD 7970.
That's pretty old (2004). Can you confirm it works with Windows 7 and DX10+ games?
I'm talking about forcing high refresh rates (Hz), so that's not what I'm looking for. I already use D3DOverrider though.![]()
It's because some games will override the desktop refresh rate. Don't ask me why, but you can set 120Hz in windows and the game will force 60Hz while it's running. D3DOverrider just forces V-Sync for whatever refresh rate the game is using.
I'm not saying it's the limit or 'fault' of the driver. It's probably the games fault, but the driver can override it if AMD builds the option in. I haven't found a single game that NVIDIA CP cannot force to 120Hz, so AMD can do the same.
