Force feedback lockups :(

I have just bought a PS2 to USB adapter from Play.com and it works just fine except when the force feedback is active, at which point it will work for anything up to about a minute before causing whatever game it is in to lock up forcing a CTRL-ALT-DEL to close it. If the force feedback is disabled there are no problems at all.
Any ideas?

Yeh, I've noticed that as well. Are you using the Dual action 2 controller? If you have one of the origional dual actions, it might work. Seems I remember hearing that somewhere.
 
I'm using one of the original Playstation1 Rumble controllers. Trying to get hold of a PS2 one later to try that too.

Mine does the exact same thing. PS1 Dual Shock controller, I got my adapter here in the UK, it carries the Game brand, I've no idea who made it.

I thought I was the only one...

edit: That one from play.com isn't the one I have, but the symptoms are *exactly* the same. Hmmm....
 
Hmmm, is anybody running thiers through a powered hub at all?

Nope, mine runs off the backplate connected straight to one of my motherboard's (Abit NF7-S V2.0) USB headers.
 
Okies, I solved my problem, was running out of USB ports so I put a 6 port PCI card in which happens to be an ALI chipset as opposed to the Nforce3 I have on the motherboard, pad works fine plugged into that. So it's just not liking the Nforce drivers I guess. Which as far as I can tell are up to date.
