I was wondering, the majority of for sale stuff is normally being sold by people from the states.

I for one would love to sell and trade via the for sale sub forum, but I have to look threw many many threads that are basically for the US, ok I know I can still buy from ppl in the states, but it isnt really viable with shipping costs etc.

I was wondering, would it be possible if there was the inclusion of say a UK/Europe for sale sub forum, So that people from europe of the Uk could trade without the need of having to look threw 20 or so threads for maybe 1 thread that has something for sale nearer to them and not in the states, which nearly all of the for sale WTB threads are?

I am sure if such a sub forum existed it would be a good tradeing place for all those not living in the states.

thanks for reading.

sounds like a pretty solid suggestion, can't see why this would be a bad thing...

Would US people be able to post their wares in both forums if they were willing to ship to
Europe? Even if that is not allowed it is still a good idea.

Ahhh the classic can we have some type of sub-forum added to the FS/FT forums :) Unfortunately, this type of topic has been covered many times and for any time in the forseeable future I believe the answer will still be no.

Possibly another idea - if you are from the UK or elsewhere in the world that is not the US, stick your country's name (or EU of the EU can all ship to each other relatively easily, I have no idea if they can or not...) in the thread title, then one only need use the search function.

Yea, shipping to within the EU is like people from the states shipping to one another, its as easy as that. I have done it many times, and not once have I ever had a problem, saying that, I have never shipped to the newer EU countries that were once part of the soviet union, but I spose it would just be as easy.....

But yea, shipping all throughout the EU is a piece of cake.

Good idea.

It wouldn't be so hard for the mods either, they wouldn't have to tranplant any thread. Just make a new subforum under FS/FT and say "go". Just let all other thread die through natural selection.

GET YOUR OWN [H]!

just kidding.. I too would vote the idea in..

there shoukld also be a section for australia/asia as ia m form aud\s and its hard to sell stuff on hardforum

Lets set this scenerio up properly. We will have a sub-forum for each section of the world reflecting the different exchange rates and country policies. We can further break this down to local policy and applicable taxes, not to mention the customs duties, etc......I think you would have to agree that this would do nothing more than throw a wrench into the gears in that forum. The [H] provides a forum in which to allow members to buy/sell and trade, but we do not do all of the legwork for our members. Since about 90% of the members are from the States, we use that as our standard (rules, regulations, time standards, etc.) so it will be on the members to iron out the details of their exchanges.

well, mainly the point is to just let the sales get sectioned out to make it easier to distinguish what countries members are in.. since the cast majority are in the US, we make a couple small continental sub-forums to help the memmbers in the other corners of the world find thier own.. [H] really doesnt do anything... all you do is make it easier for people in other countries to buy/sell/trade with people in that same country..

Personally, Id be pissed if I arranged a deal with someone and THEN found out id have to pay like 2/3 of the cost of the item just in duties and taxes, so it works out to the benefit of ALL members that trade here..

I'm with Major, we'd end up with a web for subforums if we did this.

I would say if you are selling in the EU/Asia/etc, just say so in your thread title. That makes it easy for the EUers to see good threads, and easy for us Americans to avoid them.

I don't know if this would be possible or not as I am not familiar with the way this forum is coded, but would it be possible to add an icon of sorts for the thread that denotes where you are. That way if you are usa, you could tag your thread with that icon. Of course if that isn't feasible/cost effective idea, then just tag your thread title with US:, CAN:, UK:, EU:, ASIA:...not really that hard. Being able to tag an icon would just allow people around here to be even more lazy. Being that most people around here are from the states, they could just leave it out of the thread title as a kind of understood thing.

This is where interpersonal communication comes into play. It just makes common sense to know who and the location of the person you are dealing with as outlined in the FS/T rules. The first thing you look for is whether or not you are interested in the item, the price, references and where the person lives and how to contact them (personal information). I see no advantage to denoting the country of origin in sub-forums except for a precious few.....and as stated here many times we are not in the hand holding business in regards to deals, it's for the individual member to do his own research and this includes determination of the deal's place of origin.

Thats taking it to the extreme, a simple EU subforum, just to see how it performs would be a good idea. If it doesnt take off then it gets binned, simple as.

Put it this way, how many "foreigners" have been put off buying and selling on the forums due to the fact that 95% of the threads are mainly U.S. ?

As stated before, shipping throughout the EU is uber simple and is all done in 1 currency, the euro, ok the UK isnt Eurofied yet, but we are familiar with it and the majority have used it at somepoint.

It doesnt stop people from buying from ppl in the states nor does it stop ppl from the states buying from us, but at least it lets us know where the trading is going to take place, and it will also save unecessary searching threw the forums for items that are close to that specific person to buy, as i said earlier, looking threw 20-30 threads for maybe 2 from the uk is off putting to me and makes me physically to not want to even go into the FS subforum, so if it can have that effect on me then who else has that very same feeling ??

Thats all I have to say on the matter.
