For all those x1900 driver issue threads....

Figured one thread to answer all these x1900 driver issues would be better than replying to a half dozen threads.

1) Should I update to Cat 6.1 or use drivers on my included cd?
Use the drivers on the cd. DO NOT USE CAT 6.1!!! It does not support x1900 series. Cat 6.2 will officially support the x1900 series of cards.

2) I get the inf error message.
This is caused by installing cat drivers other than the one on the driver cd. Use only your driver cd until cat6.2 is released.

3) How do I clean up the inf error if reinstalling cats from driver cd does not work?
Go to Add/remove programs in control panel. Use the ATI Software Uninstall Utility to clean out all Ati related drivers from your system. Do a reboot. When new hardware wizzard pops up press cancel. Install drivers from your driver cd.

4) Make sure to run driver cleaner before installing the driver. A lot of peoples problems are because they have drivers or files causing conflicts. The bestest and most extreme solution is Format C:\ but it does the job, installing everything fresh can give your system a nice perf boost.

Running the driver's built in removal tool is usually enough these days, you should only use a program like driver sweeper if you run into issues.

It doesn't apply to modern drivers on modern hardware. If you happen to be talking about an x1900, then the 11.xx drivers do not work at all for those cards.
