ok i was torn on what to get for my next cpu.so what i did was simple i got 4 small pieces of paper,and wrote a cpu name on each.stuck those in a crown royal bag,and drew one then ordered it.

choices were
q6600
q6700
q9300
e8400

and the chip i ordered
q6600 winner yay

You're crazy, dude. If you're gonna get a 65 nm quad, the 6700 is the one to get for the 10x multiplier. If you gotta get a 45 nm, and money is no object, go for the QX, or X3360 if you don't have 1k to drop. Otherwise the 9450/3350....

graysky yeah it may have been crazy but thats what i decided to do,but either way it would have went.it will be a major upgrade from my current e2200.

the methodology is outstanding. sometimes i just ask the gfriend, "hey, what sounds cooler, X or Y?" her answer is the deciding factor in tough purchasing decisions.

No joking, I did the same exact thing only with my choices being either the E8400 or Q6600. Whichever gets 2 out of 3 wins and the Q6600 won. That didn't influence my final decision but I did end up with the Q6600. I mean it's a quad core that still kicks ass in benchmarks/real world apps and "only" costs $200. It was almost $1000 when it was released last year. I'd say it's a pretty good deal.

E8400 over the Q9300 anyday, unless you're building some kind of server and/or encoding box.
