Hello everyone,

I have a D-link 604 wired router and a D-link DI-624 wireless router. I just finished setting up the DI-624 wireless router as an access-point only. I disabled the DHCP on the DI-624 and used the static IP and these settings http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14435099?hilite=di-624. The DI-604 is the DHCP server, etc. I connected the DI-624 to the DI-604 using the LAN connectors, not the WAN on the DI-624.

The primary reason for doing this is, for some unexplained reasons, browsing with the DI-624 is MUCH slower than when using the DI-604. That is, it takes forever to load web pages; downloading speeds are not affected. I tried many things, such as cleaning up forwarded ports, virtual server lists, playing with the MTU, etc. Now that the DI-604 is handling everything, my browsing experience is much better.

Now, here is the problem: how do I access the DI-624 setup page? I know how to access the DI-604 page (the wired router), but have no clue to access the DI-604 page. The IP address 99.99.99.99 (see link above) does not work. Nor is the DI-624 listed as a client on the DI-604, but all wireless users are listed as clients on the DI-604, so I know it is handling DHCP properly.

Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

I'm surprised the D-Link accepted the bogus 99.99.99.99 IP, that's not the right thing to do though.

First, make a note of your 604's IP address. If you don't know what it is, it will be listed as "Gateway" when you do an "ipconfig /all" at a command prompt.

Then on the 624:

Reset it back to factory default and then connect it to a single PC (not on the 604's network) and login to it with the default IP address (192.168.0.1 or whatever). You may need to reboot the connected PC to get it to grab a new IP from the 624 after the factory reset. Keeping in mind the IP of the 604 you noted above, set the 624 to a different IP in the same subnet. For example if the 604 is at 192.168.0.1, set the 624 for 192.168.0.254 and also turn off DHCP as you did before. Svae that setup and then reconnect it as you had it before.

Now you should be able to login to the 604 at 192.168.0.1 and the 624 at 192.168.0.254.
