that will probably be playing Modern Warfare or World at War, which would be the better chip...a Pentium 4 2.8 ghz with a 800 mhz FSB or a Pentium D 2.66 ghz with a 533 FSB...?

rest of the specs...

Asrock 775Dual-vsta...
1 GB PNY Verto gamer memory...
XFX 8600GT 1GB...

* and by cheap I mean with only a $50 investment for a Dell Dimension E310 and swapping out the Pentium 4 800 mhz FSB chip in place of the current Pentium D if it would improve performance...

You can get a E2140 Dual core for like $50. That might work better. You will have make sure bios is updated.

A Pentium D is bearable, but don't put a Pentium 4 in anything that anyone will actually use these days.

When you say "rest of the specs", do you mean that those are the components that the Dell already has installed, or that they're components you plan on buying?

The more details you give us, the more informed we can make our decision.
