The game takes place in the present day. A young woman by the name of Ellen is lured to the sea-side village of Doolin, in Ireland, led by a letter from her supposedly dead mother. Meanwhile Keats, a journalist from an occult magazine called Unknown Realms, receives a phone call from a woman in distress telling him to come to Doolin. Soon he and Ellen find themselves in a murder mystery, where the answers seem to only be found in the Netherworld, the world of the dead, a realm that can only be accessed from one place in the world, Doolin. To solve the crime and reveal Ellen's forgotten past, they will need to venture to the Netherworld as travellers, where faeries and folks alike await them.

Anyone else playing this? I'm finding it actually quite fun :) I feel like I'm playing a mix between God of War and pokemon :D

That sounds...odd.:p I may put this in my Gamefly que since the only game I have for PS3 is Motorstorm. (which came with it)

I'm approx 2 hours into it and like it alot. A good balance of rpg/action, and has unique qualities.

I have too many other games to play right now (Eternal Sonata, Halo 3, TF2, Heavenly sword), but I'll probably pick it up from TRU B2G1 deal or just get it from family video since I don't need it right away. I liked the US demo of the game though.

Haha... well the gameplay is much like God of War except no jumping.

If anything this game is a mix of PSO (Phantasy Star Online) meets GoW meets pokemon.

Level design and RPG element feels just like PSO, but not on a space ship. Level design is also very pretty... a lot like PSO for the day it came out. Very trippy graphics, very colorful.

When it comes down to combat, really a faster pasted PSO game, but gets to the point where it can feel like god of war. I say its a mix between pokemon, just because collecting the folkore ... "got to collect em all!" Overall I agree with almost all the reviews out there, and if you can make time for it, its a great game.

I picked this up yesterday, and started with Keats(sp?) Interesting so far. I'm admiring the approach level 5 has taken into presenting the dialougue/story. Opposed to having a large text box with scrolling text found on traditional RPG's

I find, aside from what everyone else has said that I agree with, is that the game has to date(at least I feel it does) the best use of the Sixaxis motion controls. I find that some of the stuff you do is actually fun and feels very much like part of the game.

Not to say Lair had bad controls or anything -_-

And the way the story is told is quite good, very unique and fun I feel. It would be neat if it had a two player mode though, where you can play as both Keats and whats her face, Ellen. That would have been fun.

Careful for what you wish for, seems like this generation ... almost anything is possiable. With almost all the consoles now having harddrives, updates, patches and add-ons are very common. I wouldn't be suprised if more titles in the future started to released "co-op addons" (although they should make it to the final game, instead of addons, but I can see this happening)

I just made it to chapter 5. I've been at work the last few days and finaly now getting a break, so back to more folklore! :D

OH, I ment to ask, there chances to go back to previouis worlds to get folks that I missed or to upgrade folk skills?

I downloaded the demo even after hearing the less-than-stellar reviews (I didn't have any of that 1-second lag 1up or whoever was talking about after binding folklore to buttons). It was much better than I was expecting and I enjoyed the demo a good deal. Good implementation of the Sixaxis.

I was going to wait til the game dropped a lot in price, but I bit because Fry's had it for $49.99.

Yeah it started today.

I wanted to get if from Toysrus's B2G1 deal, but they didn't have it.

The full game is much better than the demo. I somewhat stopped with the main story, and have just been leveling up my skills and doing side quests. Once I get internet at home I'm gonna check out some of the online dungeons that people make. And I'll probably try making a few. :)

Played a bit earlier after getting my ass kicked by xgrave in Tekken  I'm on chapter 2 I believe and restarted the game with Ellen.

At first I thought Ellen and Keats were the same when playing between one or the other, but the farther you progress with them their skills begin to change as well as some other stuff. :)

Don't feel bad, when I play Domingo he usually beats me 5-games-to-1 :(

Game Republic*
Level 5 had nothing to do with this game... they're still hard at work on White Knight Chronicles (and DQ9 for the DS). :D

I just picked it up for 49$ with shipping.

Thank you Ebay. Should have it by tomorrow or so.

Doh, you're correct.

Well, I'm stuck on the Dreadknaught boss. Anyone care to suggest what folk I should use? (I know I can always go to gamefaqs, but I usually end up reading more then I should :p)
