Folding with gpu and uniprocessor?

So I'm kind of new to this whole thing, when you are folding with your graphics card, can you still fold on your cpu or is it not recommended?

Yes, you can fold with both. There is a CPU overhead with the GPU client, but you can still run both, they'll just be a bit slower.

well is it better to just dedicate it as a gpu system? or to just make the cpu run at less than 100%? say 70% or something? Sorry If this sounds extremely newbish... it probably does

Depends on the CPU and OS. The GPU client uses less cpu under Vista.

It's probably better to run both clients, although it depends somewhat on how fast your CPU and GPU are relative to each other. I haven't done any comparative testing though so I can't tell you anything for sure.

8600M GT GPU
Intel Core Duo T7500 2.2 ghz
and yeah it has windows vista

It's all their midrange laptop GPUs.

hmm? so i shouldn't fold on my laptop gpu? I don't really want it to overheat. the gpu is running at 69-71 C and the cores are at about the same is this too much heat?

It probably won't overheat immediately, but running at load consistently surely can't be good for a laptop

I don't fold with my GPU on my laptop as my GPU is pretty week (Dell D630 w/nvs 135). I fold with the SMP client and I can get ~1600 PpD out of it (T7500).

Since I'm on XP, the GPU client will take an entire core and it won't produce enough to match what I can do on just the SMP so I don't use it. In addition as you noted, the heat from the GPU can be a bit of an issue.
