Folding registry key / re: machine number

Ok, search is broken and I couldn't find the old thread on this... but what is the reg key in XP that folding adds? the one that specifies the "machine number"? I am running 2k right now and the PandeGroup reg key is empty... is this the key to delete before I upload the drive image to a bunch of machines? or is the "machine number" stored someplace else (and needs removed from a file / the file deleted? I have an opportunity where I can get the images fixed (as I have a lot of borg machines that stanford sees as the "same box") and I'd like to finally start adding boxen again...

I'm only running W2K but my PandeGroup reg key has a sub folder for Folding@Home

The Machine ID# is stored in client.cfg, not the registry.

The User ID# is stored in the registry.

Stanford terms the registry key as the "user id" and seems to be the same number reported in fahlog.txt except reversed.
Example - my register key - "UserID"=hex:a7,c6,8c,4a,77,49,61,3f
my fahlog.txt "User ID = 3F6149774A8CC6A7"
or broken down into pairs:
User ID = 3F 61 49 77 4A 8C C6 A7

That being said, it's the number that is assigned by Stanford and is unique to the REGISTRY on the machine it is installed in (regardless of the number of CPU's). Like in Highlander "There will be only one".

You now can assign up to 8 "machine ID's" per Registry key. This is done in the .cfg file.

For example there is 1 guy complaining that he has machines with 32 processors each, but can only use 8 instances. I routinely transport genome work to machines that are NOT ON THE NET. I also transport the registry key. That way I can feed 6 extra instances off my dually.

If your machine is on the net it would be easier to use one of the install programs floating around. PM turmelle I think he would know of the best ones.
