Ok so I looked it up, I have read some things, but I am sorry to say I don't get what it is.
So its educational but what does it really do for u?
what do u learn from this?
Do u get paid or somthing for doing this?

Some people I talk to say that they have this system and it is there "folding" machine but I don't really understand it. any help would be greatfull

Ok dude, Folding@home is a program run by stanford. It uses your computer's spare cpu cycles to calculate how proteins misfold in the human body, in order to predict things about cancer, alzheimers, aids, and many other harmful diseases. It's free to join, and u won't get paid unless you join a team that pays, like that BFG contest thingie. Folding runs on nearly any operating system.

to dl it, go to http://folding.stanford.edu/download

for more info on [H]ard|OCP's folding team, go to http://hardfolding.com

Yes, I fold!!

And if that's not enough reason to fold...

Do you have a family member that suffers from any of a variety of diseases or disorders?
Cancer?
Alzheimers?
Mad Cow Disease?
Diabetes? <My personal favorite - I'm Diabetic>
the list goes on.

If you've ever been in the hospital waiting and wondering if there was any thing YOU could do to help... then this might be it.

Life is too short and fragile for us all not to give something back.

If you've ever rebuilt your PC and had a few parts left over.... they could have been recycled into a folding computer, or boxen, as we call them. That one day could contribute to the cure for cancer.

That's a pretty powerful thought isn't it. To be able to say "Yes - I helped cure cancer. I helped cure Alzheimers. I have affected the lives of literally millions of people - in the most positive way possible. By insuring their lives and health."

It's the ultimate form of recycling.

A "pure" folding machine is a spare computer that you have that only runs Folding@Home.

That way all its cycles are spare and you can maximize its output.

Luck......... :D

Don't forget that you can run folding@home on a computer that you use for other purposes, even gaming or high end rendering-whatever. Folding won't slow down your apps usually, and if it does, you can kill it and start it back up when you're done working.

You don't have to have a spare PC to fold. Extra cycles on the pc's you use are just as good as ones from dedicated folding pc's. Some of us folders don't even have those spare rigs that fold, but we wished we did :p (That includes me.)

Don't hesitate to ask more questions, buddy! We welcome you and your folding cylces if you are interested.

And you can install the folding client so that it runs as a service and you'll never even know it's running! It's working when you're not doing anything and when you're doing something, it's waiting for you not to be doing anything so it can get back to work. It's freakin' amazing! :)
