folding on ubuntu

i had a work unit up to about 83% and had to reboot.

i thought i knew how to start it back up... ./fah.exe (i renamed it)

but its going through the install again?!? have i just lost all that work? how do i continue?

.. if this is the client, as long as you shut-down windows properly (didn't just pull the power, but went to start->shutdown in the windows start menu), then it should be fine.. open up [fah root folder here]\unitinfo.txt.. should tell you how far along its gone through its current work unit, and will read as 0% done if it had reset everything.

um...he's talking about ubuntu linux...not windows...sorry, I can't help, I'm not proficient with linux..maybe someone is though

is this the first time you have tried starting it since renaming? try renaming it back. then navigate to the folder, execute

./FAH502-Linux.exe

assuming you are using version 5.02. if that doesnt work, i dont know, you may have lost the work unit. but the work is still there, you should be able to continue with it.

Normally you have something like that if the file has been moved. I'm wondering if when you renamed the file, did you also move it somewhere else?

well, i hosed the install. but id still like to know what happened.

i didnt move/change anything post install. .. confusing.

I always recommend finstall, which is available from here. It installs things in a predictable and correct manner.
