Well well well.... where to start. I think your 2600k give away did its trick on me. I started folding 5-11-11, with a c2q 9450 and 2 gtx465, fast forward to today and i have an hp dl585 (ebay special) and an amd 1090t with a 6990 folding...... Now im afraid to game because im afraid to take a loss on my ppd. I guess this is the "bug" that you all talk about. Thanks now im hooked for life........ :D

Just don't do bigadv. It's all fun and games but once you try that you don't go back.

Well well well.... <snip>

Thanks now im hooked for life........ :D

You are welcome.

And welcome to our team.

We are a bunch of mostly nice folks around here. Many are very helpful as well.

no problem man :D

I let my 2600k run folding 24/7, with my 1090T taking the "hit" (very little for a long gaming session) when i game :D

so i tried to enable -bigadv by adding the argument to my shortcut like the guide said to. Now all it does is say attempting to get work failed, no other work to do.. and then it just retries over and over, did i do something wrong? This is an 8 thread system and should have plenty of ram and each processor is running at 3.2ghz not sure whats wrong here

-bigadv work has been running thin. The new -bigbeta WU that just came out seems to be taking up most of Stanford's time. You need a 12 thread box to do the -bigbeta..... might I reccomend tobit's abit board in the FS section to get you started?

:D

they are getting ancy about 6903 getting people to switch over to bigbeta
so they cut the pts down a bit...

Folding is addicting, isn't it?

welcome to the fun :)

Yes, folding is addicting! Just look at me, I am trying to squeeze every last drop of points out of my POS hardware!!!

As am I, my friend. PS3, old x2 3800, Turon laptop and C2D E7200 with HD5770 all running clients. It's bad.

I think we have some future SR-2 system owners here. :D

You dont know how close I was to buying tobit's SR2 rig... If only I wasnt unemployed I would have gotten it. I have almost enough cash to drop on a budget 4P, but I have to watch my spending until I get another job!

If I had $1k burning a hole in my pocket, I would have been all over that SR-2 deal tobit was offering. Some day....

I don't think anyone can really argue that they weren't grossly overvalued to begin with.

Make hay when the sun is shining.

Lord know the weather changes a bunch round here.

Crashbox Welcome to the team!

Yeah I started for the first system give away, got sucked in, and never left. Now I am sitting at 87 on the team. If you work in IT and don't know Linux yet this is a good way to get started. Bunch of Linux guys in here. So you got a 585 G2 or G5? I get to fold on various HP boxes occasionally some others here might get to fold more than occasionally on HP hardware. Good fun all around. When you find yourself in the top 20 for PPD you know you are hooked.

nwrtarget I believe his is a DL585 G1 w/ 32GB DDR1

I emailed the auction to him and I think he got it for $300 ;)
