Folding and RAM speed

Hi lads,

how much does F@H benefit from faster RAM? Specifically, should I favor a lower CPU overclock with synchronous RAM speed, or rather OC the CPU to the hilt, even if my RAM will run slower/ in async mode?

I am about to get started on my Venice 3200+ and would like some up-front info, especially, since I may have to drop down to 512MB of RAM if I want high CPU oc and fast RAM speeds.

I'm pretty sure that the only core that benefits greatly from memory bandwidth is the QMD core, which isn't available to A64s yet. So greater CPU speed would be more beneficial.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

As always, your wrong...

Yea, AMD no QMD's so crank up the CPU.

On QMD machines (Intel) keep the RAM in sync for best results.

I have played around with the memory at 200 sync and 166 and 133 async on the A64 and usually the difference is almost nothing. Its all CPU speed.
