Foldable OLED screen on a laptop

Will probably cost the earth, and just a quick out of the box question, how many times can you fold the screen? Everything that doesn't bend at a hinge seems to get some sort of fatigue fracture over time, how will OLED screens be any different?
 
I always wonder is OLED the only choice? As the screen sharpness is much better than LED LCD, but at the cost of burn in? Are we going backwards?
 
Not only the cost but the current generation of OLED screens have rapid colour shift as they age. I'd wait a few years before buying an OLED tv/screen.

If the bend-angle is strictly controlled (so it never really folds, but curves at a predictable, controlled, radius), and the OLED is as strong as a typical ribbon cable, then it could last the whole lifetime of the laptop, without too many warranty failures.

The question is -- how strong are OLED's in being able to be bent to a specific bending radius? e.g. 1/2 inch bending radius, which can be "protected" with a hard casing to prevent any accidental folds.
 
If so, I don't think bend angle is a problem. I have seen other application that they really bend the OLED, and it works fine afterwards. Of course, no1 knows repeat bending after years would work or not
 
This is a concept from 2011 that never materialised. Or am I missing something?

Steep bend angles increase the risk of fatigue cracks. This also applies to wires and ribbon cables inside a laptop hinge. They sometimes break after many years of the laptop opening/closing.

Doubling the bend radius can add more than 10x the number of open-close cycles, so choosing a compromise bend radius is an engineering challenge. Whether to miniaturize the bend angle, or to reduce chances of failures.
 
So, are we stuck w/ LED LCD then? Because viewsonic is selling a 4K screen for $35K to $45K, it seems they are staying w/ LED LCD
 
Why does the ViewSonic cost that much? There's a new ASUS 4K coming out for a few grand isn't there?
