Now this keeps going on and on.

Any ideas? I think maybe the cores are not getting put in the right place or something.

cheers for any help

Oh and totally offtopic. My old account here chestRcopRpot which i setup in around 2000 has gone. I thought i just forgot the password but i cant even find the username anymore. very odd.

as for the username.... they did a forum purge about a year ago... anyone who hadn't posted in the last ____ weeks got deleted... alot of the subforums were combined, deleted, and/or history erased....

as for fold-server... I'm not sure... unhappy_mage and/or Crashsector will have to chime in on that one... In windows world, I'd tell you to delete the work directory (and everything else) and start over... because I've had to do that with mine before just to get a core to actually work....

Keep on Folding!!

I would recommend looking at this link as it has a fairly lengthy discussion of your problem in detail.

cheers guys.

That thread makes me think its a ram problem. or lack of..

ill stick another stick in it.

i really should have thought of this myself :O

No problem man, lately here, more ram with folding is good. If you plan on running big WU's 512 is a must, and if you are looking at running the -advmethods switch, a gig is preferred. BTW, excellent Goonies reference!

Just tested it. its now working. This was just a test box. I though 64Mb would be enough, for tinkers atleast, but wrong i was. I added a 128Mb dim and now it runs fine.

Not many people link my name to the goonies. You are among a select few

Yes, that is indeed a memory problem. We saw this on Marty's farm, once everything went to 96 mb instead of 64 it worked a lot better.

Should probably update the docs to reflect this.
