i cut the plexi pieces and used a belt sander to get them to 45*. glued em together except the top...that im still workin on...
took apart the fm thingy....put a switch on, put a car adaptor to a 5V regulator, used a switch, blah blah blah... any who here's the money part..pics! cant get a good glowwage shot cuz its still bright out...at a later time ill get some nice nite shots, but for now all u can plug it in with is a car...soon ill have wall connectors and comp connectors... and other things.... soon to come also is a plug into the bottom of the ipod so that i can charge it in the car too...heres the pics

now that u have seen what i have...what kinda suggestosn you got?? im thinking making connectors on the cables so that i can plug on didferent power adaptors...one for wall, one for molex, one for cigarett thing...any other idea's?

very cool. i am working on the same thing, i just got my licence and a car

mine uses the $30 multiband transmiter from radioshack. my box will be black (i like the blue, just not in my car ;) ) and have a hacked up iDock on it. the 12v comes in from the cig lighter plug and into the box. there is a 5v regulator for the transmitter and 2 extra USB plugs, and 12v goes right to the ipod thrugh the dock connector. then there is a jack to hook in a modifyed version of the remote which will be mounted on the dash. (remote connection thrugh dock connector). so far i am in the molding stage to make the box fit perfectly...

nice work though- you need some jacks so that you dont have wires dangling out.

i have an idea:

CLEAN YOU CAR DUDE!! :D

anyways, very cool...one thing i love about this site is the creativity and striving to do everything ourselves....manufacturers you say? to hell with them.....

2 things though, the blue tape holding it together gotta go and you might to look into a way to manage the wires, maybe mount the box on the dash/run the wires under the carpet but something to keep them from going across the way like they are.

all in all a very do-it-yourself approach to the FM box and way to pimp it out with the LEDs, keep us posted.

k, here's what i have come up with..have connectors built into the top of the thing...that will make the wires not come out..then i can attach differet connectors..i like the idea of a remote, maybe ill try to incorperate that some where too...

the blue tape is temporary..im tryin to think of a way to attache the top that i can take off easily..

as for the wires, how can i manage them. there are tons!! arr..:) thanks!

Take a wider pic so i can see the area you are working with and how much length you have on the wires then we can see what we can do to help.

I'm pretty sure by the looks of things you won't mind cutting a few small holes in order to mount it/run the wires properly ;)
