Just a quick simple question I'm hoping to get answered. Is there a preferred placement for a flow indicator in a loop? Any place it should be avoided?

wasteomind, what is the application for your flow indicator?

Technically it shouldn't really matter, should it? Flow should be consistent throughout the loop, no?

Personally i know the pump is working if my temps are where i expect them to be and its making its little whirring noise. I'm running a T line so i can't see if the water is moving, but if you have a res already the water should be moving around in there some, indicating flow.

IMO, a flow indicator is more of a bling item and if anything, likely hurts your system flowrate.

Watercooling Newb, so feel free...
But I'd think that as long as you have the same diameter tubing around the entire loop you should be good to go wherever it is convienient.

flow will only be as high as the greatest restriction allows, and being a closed loop means that flow will be equal no matter where in the loop you put it. however adding one more thing is one more restriction to your loop. make sure whatever gains you get from puting a flow meter in outweigh the increased restriction it will add... that part is up to your opinion.

Flow meters are designed to be as free flowing as possible so they don't distort what they're there to measure.
