I'm getting the following error when I try to boot a new comp I just built..
Floppy disk(s) failed (40)

I've tried several cables, and I've aligned ALL the pins properly. It keeps coming up with this error!

I have a Seagate 120gb 8mb cache hd and a Shuttle AN35N Ultra.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just for kicks, connect the floppy cable in the other direction. In my experience, that is the problem nearly every time.

Plugging the floppy cable in the wrong way can kill the drive. Typically, if you have connected the cable wrong, the green access light will stay on.

If it is a new drive, it is possible it was DOA, as well. Might need to RMA it...

Ahh..figured it out earlier.

Some weird reason, the mb was looking for an actual 3 1/2 floppy drive. And since I didn't connect it...it errored out. I was able to get into the BIOS and switch the setting to NOT look for the floppy. worked well.

Thanks.

um...i think this either flew way the hell over his head..or way the hell over mine

did you think you were getting a floppy error from a hard disk? I mean, why else would he tell us the hard disk he has..

i'm going to bed...brain hurts
