So we used to rent a basement office space from a company above us. We were in the process of building a brand new office up the road and were due to move in about 5 weeks.... well after the rainfall on long island the last week, we got a flood. Now, we had to move out last Tuesday (luckily our new landlord let us camp out in the available office space under our new office space). It rained for a few days straight here so the old office water really got higher... heres a video I took yesterday walking through the old office.

We lost a few computers and some electronic equipment. The workshop you see with all the computers, 99% of that stuff is old junk anyway so we were not worried. I lost a few GOOD cases though and rack mount cases in the flood (about 2 good cases and 2 rack mount cases). But what can ya do...

Oh man, sorry to hear about the cases and rack mounts. At least, from what it sounds, nothing crucial has been lost!

Wow! Well it's good you didn't lose too much, and that the space was being rented and you have a new location.

It wasnt floating. One of the employees planned to take it when we moved, but it was yucky from the water.

Our new office is almost done, its gonna be really something. Automated lighting/audio controls. HVAC controls (all from an iphone interface or over the web). 7.1 surround with 50+ 1080p tv, also a 1080p projector on a 100+ inch screen. 5.1 in my office, 5.1 in a sales guys ofice, 7.1 in my boss's office, speakers throughout the office for music, two racks filled with gear just for us

Sorry to hear that happened in your office. Btw, somehow when you were walking in the hallway, it reminded me of the movie "Titanic" when the corridors were starting to flood.

Two questions:
1) Where do you work?
2) How do I get on?

Your new office sounds pretty sweet!

I work for a company called IntraLogic. We were really into POS systems and networking 4 years ago. Now our focus is primarily Access Control, Video Surveillance and Security. We still do computer networks and general computer maintenance conrtracts. We stopped pushing POS (its very time consuming, not much ROI).

We do not have any openings, yet. I mean we're always looking for new talent but you hafta realy wow us and be willing to put in the time. We work with some really cool technology and have a lot of fun, so we look for people who fit in.

I'll be looking for another IT tech to join my department this year hopefully, once we start getting into the new office and getting more organized. Installers (CCTV/Wiring) guys we're always on the look for, because we pay them hourly and they work if there is work to be done (which is ALWAYS).

So if your a really good wiring guy who knows about access control/computers and want to run wires, install equipment on walls, cut out strikes and what not, and your in the Nassau/Suffolk county area, we may hire ya, lol.

The new office will be amazing, can't wait till its done so i can do a walk through on here with everything. Should be done in a few weeks.

seeing that SmartUPS underwater made me sad

hope you guys had insurance? by the sound of the new office i am guessing yes lol

access control is fun, dont suppose you guys ever have any access control system parts you need to get rid of? i want to install a set of prox cards and strikes in my office... friend of mine told me the northern computers stuff was pretty easy for a 2 door system, but i keep wondering if any of the chinese stuff that floods ebay is any good

And this had what to do with Photography and Video?
