Floating Fans? wtf? Sweet!

I was looking at Xoxide's new products page and saw these fans. I guess they use some sort of mag-lev device to make the fan "float" inside so nothing is touching. They claim to be noiseless.. 17dB. 44cfm @ 1000rpm.

Anyone willing to try them or know anything about them? They look really neat.

DFI uses a small mag-lev fan on their motherboards. It's quiet....until you turn the system on...then it whines like a little bitch of a turbine when it gets mid to high speeds. Anything lower than high speed and it doesn't cool worth shit b/c of it's size.

I suppose a larger fan using mag-lev would be decent though.

I believe these are different than your conventional "mag-lev" fans on chipsets.. if they are indeed mag lev. These new ones claim they have no moving parts or motor noise at all. The only noise comes from the fan blades passing through the air. I think it might be worth a shot. $10 really isn't that bad. I can think of how I spend $10 on worse things for the computer... or more. lol.

From the reviews it looks pretty good.. in a home theater pc or some other quiet application computer, it would work great. Maybe not in a gaming pc though just because of not moving loads of air.
