Flexraid Parity Creation Help

Hey guys. I've posted to the Flexraid forums for two weeks now and haven't gotten a single response thus far for my issue, which is infuriating. Link: http://forum.flexraid.com/index.php/topic,3509.0.html

My basic issue is this: The configuration is CC Snapshot, 7DRU (2x3TB, 5x2TB), 2PPU (2x3TB) on a dual-core, 2.1GHz WHS2011 setup. Running parity create runs at about 10MB/s and takes about 72 hours (three DAYS) to complete. But, it failed once it reached completion with no real info. I have the relevant log portion in the above link and have a link in there to the full log as well. I'm running the latest Raid-F build, all the drives test fine, and I can't figure out what is going on.

If someone can give me some idea of what is going on, or an alternate solution, I'd be extremely grateful! I really need to get this parity back up and running; pooling is great, but I can't stand the thought of losing a drive full of data.

Speak of the devil. Just got a beta build from Brahim that might fix the permissions issue (not the parity creation speed though). I'll report back if it helps, but if anyone has any idea about the parity creation speed, I'd still love to hear it.
 
Sorry I don't have any suggestions but I was planning on using flexraid F in the next few weeks on a new homeserver build.

Is this a common problem you've seen?
 
I don't know that I'd say a "common" problem per se, but I know the speed problem exists for at least my setup and one other (http://forum.flexraid.com/index.php/topic,2932.0.html). There seems to be some issue with saturating the CPU for no reason as the units increase, so I'm guessing there is a bug to be worked out somewhere. Theoretically, if you use less drives, then I think you'd be less likely to see the bug. If you don't have a huge amount of data to calculate parity on, or you've got a faster setup that mine (which is likely), it might not be too big of an issue. As to the permission issue that wasted my previous 72 hour parity creation, I'll have to see if Brahim's beta build works as intended (assuming the issue even reoccurs). All that said, I don't know that I would switch from Flexraid as it does basically everything I want in one package and works pretty well once it is going.

I'm going to be testing again today or tomorrow with a 7xDRU and 1xPPU versus a 7xDRU and 2xPPU setup to see if there's much difference.
 
Back when I used FlexRAID I had a 18TB array with 2 parity drives. My parity calculation was about 80MB/s and I even had several 5400RPM drives in there. So for most people it works great, but yes there could be bugs that some people run into.

I've seen people have slowness on Linux MD RAID and ZFS as well too.

Just take advantage of the FlexRAID trial before you buy it.
