Modded Xbox Package (v. 1.0; Thomson drive; Alladdin modchip w/ 120GB HDD installed):
One owner machine that has been well-cared for. Finally took the plunge a couple of years back and modded it, adding a 120GB WD 7200rpm HDD for media center fun! I later took a shot at pimping it out a little bit by painting it gun metal grey, giving it a clear coat & adding a lighted "Master Chief" jewel to the top of it. Personally, if I could go back I think I would have just left it alone, but my nephew seems to think it's pretty cool, so who knows? Maybe your kid (or the kid in you) will like it. I've got some nice accessories for this, all of them well-cared for as well:
1. 2 official Microsoft "s" controllers (the newer, smaller ones)
2. 1 sealed 8mb memory card (never opened it as I never had a need for it, but who knows, maybe you will
)
3. 1 headset with controller attachment (for Xbox Live play)
4. 1 set of standard hookups (MS composite and power cords)
5. 1 set of hdtv hookups (for your 480p & up viewing pleasure!)
6. 1 Naki G-Force deluxe carrying case (honestly, the best console case I've ever owned...you can even leave it in the case while you play, as it has built-in ventilation...well worth me looking all over the stores for it years ago, and I don't think I've seen one since)
7. 1 stock 10GB HDD (which might come in handy as I'll explain later)
There are two "quirks" that I'd like to detail regarding this system in the interests of full disclosure:
1. This unit has a Thomson drive, as do many of the launch day units. These are not known for being very media friendly, as the reports as to their reliability are varied. I can tell you, personally, that this drive has only given me a problem on two occasions. First, Halo 2...there is a section during the second level I believe, where the game will often hang and you'll have to restart from your last checkpoint. This is a common problem with the Thomson drive as I understand it, and not much you can do about it (although I made my way through the entire game with no further problems). Second, I tried cheap media with it one night just for the hell of it and it laughed at me, refusing to read the disk. Ritek/Ridata and Taiyo Yudens work great, though!
2. I played Live quite a lot before replacing the hard drive and did not know about MS recording your HDD information. It's my understanding that if you went on Live with one hard-drive and then attempted to go back on with another that you may well be banned. Because of this, I would just switch out the drives whenever I wanted to play on Live (since my playing time has greatly diminished anyways with a toddler running around the house). In short, if you take it on Live with the 120GB, you do so at your own risk of being banned! There may well be other workarounds, but I haven't looked into them.
Finally, I'm also tossing in the following games:
1. Halo 2 (with new maps on the way...hooray!)
2. Midtown Madness 3 (complete with case and manual)
3. NFL 2K5 (my favorite football title!!!...but unfortunately not backwards compatible so I'm tossing it in, complete with case and manual)
4. Random demo disks I've picked up via OXM and freebie offers
Here are some pics...

Purchased this a short while back as an upgrade for myself, but decided that my meager set-up is fine for the time being. Chip has been opened, but never installed. Original boxes included with both, but having trouble finding original documentation for mobo at the moment.
