Flashing Power Light

My friend brought over an old computer that we were going to try and set up as an mp3 jukebox. It ran ok considering it has Windows ME installed on it. I threw in an extra stick of sdram I had laying around and booted it a few times to make sure there were no problems and everything was fine. While in windows I found that the cdrom wouldn't read cd-r discs. I tried booting from a Ubuntu cd-r and got a boot failure message. It would then load into ME as usual.

After going through and uninstalling some of the programs that weren't needed, I rebooted and the machine wasn't giving me a video signal and the power light was flashing. All the fans and drives spin up like they should. I tried swapping out the video card with no luck. I took the hard drive out and slapped it in an extra comp I have and it booted to ME, so there's no problem there. I've currently got the machine stripped down to 1 stick of ram, the video card, a cd-rom and a hard drive with no improvement. I'm going to pull the battery overnight hoping that it will reset the bios, but does anyone have any suggestions on top of that?

The board is a p6bx-an and the closest things to owners manuals I can find are here:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
