I've got a question about an e-machine T3065. It's got a 3000+ AMD athlon in it but I can't overclock the nforce2 mobo under BIOS. I was wondering if I could flash the mobo and use the retail BIOS to overclock it?

I think you'll need to figure out exactly the make and model of that motherboard. As far as I know, HP's machine with the XP3200+ uses the Asus A7N8X-VM/400... but yours could be different.

Generally companies like HP/Dell/EMachines use proprietary boards, and thus there are no alternate BIOSs available for them.

60 bucks seems like alot to replace a BIOS.

What motherboards would you recommend for a system with this kind of processer? I have an ATI 9700 Pro video card so AGP is a must.

i have a emachine w2247 it had an 2100 and i swapped it out for an 2700 but the oem bios needs updated so it can read the processor as a 2700 and u can flash it here r my specs

I wouldn't try flashing an E-Machines... messing with systems like that is asking for trouble.

Not always...they sometimes use a stripped down version of a Brand name board, it's cheaper to do so...

A friend of mine figured out that his T2625 used an FIC board (AU37? AM37? Something like that- an XP2600+). He flashed the FIC BIOS onto it and got absolutely nothing new in his BIOS, except (I believe) memory timings adjustments. It wasn't even worth it, since eMachines uses value RAM- even with the new options, he couldn't do anything with it.

so i shouldnt even worry bout it then cause ive been workin on it for 2 days and i cant seem to figure it out it keeps telling me lock string does not match system(which means i got a bios from a diff. board update)and it also tells me source file not found. so im really confused cause i did alll the research and everything got a program to tell me exactlly what board and version i have the oem bios lock string + version everything and ive read two tutorials on bios flashing and im gettin pissed cause i know i can do it and im doing everything right soo what gives

yessssssss.. i found it i did it my first succesfull flash i found out while visiting emachine upgraders forums that u need a switch tag at the end so this is what it looks like A:/AWDFLASH VBL44.BIN /NBL ... and it works the only problem is that it wont let me change the fsb or the voltage so this board must not be able to go higher than 133 fsb

Emachines likes MSI boards. I'd check there.
