Flashing BIOS

From what I know It erases the current bios version and updates it with a new version...
 
The BIOS (Basic In/Out system) is a small program written on a programmable CMOS chip (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) or ROM Chip which controls the start up functions prior to access of the HDD. Flashing is just the physical act of upgrading that programming.
