Hi guys,
yesterday I was working with an old Windows Vista notebook but something strange happened:
I inserted this flash drive, normally read by WinXP and Win7 PCs, I can't test it with another WinVista PC
The system could see it, but it couldn't read it correctly and it started the driver usually associated with memory cards:
[ Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader
Device type: Controller USB
Productor: Realtek semiconductor Corp
Location: Port_0003.Hub_#0008
Device state:
The device works correctly]
After a while the device disappeared from the connected device list (probably because the driver crashed) even though it was still plugged in.
Same story for all USB ports.
If I insert any other flash drive like this one
The device is correctly recognised and it is activated the right driver:
[ USB Mass Storage device
Device type: USB Controller
Productor: Compatible USB Mass Storage device
Location: Port_0003.Hub_#0008
Device state:
The device works correctly]
I think the problem resides behind the first driver, which recognise the peripheral and that activates the wrong "final" driver, what is your opinion?
If I know the driver activation cronology I will be able to update the correct driver
