I've found this: LCD repair v2.0 site and supposedly what you should do is leave a white or some other color screen on for hours to fix the stuck pixels, but isn't that what causes the problem to begin with? The pixel showing the same color for a long time.

gently rubbing with a soft cloth in a circular motion on the stuck pixel has worked well for me in the past.

I had a U2311H with a sub-red pixel. Tried both techniques: software + soft cloth. Never worked, sent back to Dell for a refund (it was my third unit from Dell, bad QC)

But does anyone know how leaving a solid white (or whatever color) screen on the monitor for a long time is ok? Isn't that what causes stuck pixels in the first place, the fact that a pixel is showing one color for a long time?

I don't have warranty any more.

Sure it should be fine. I go watch TV leave my monitor on, fall asleep etc... I have 12000 hour on mine and it looks just like new. I also have the same stuck pixel as I had day one.

I just wouldn't expect any of these remedies to work. Especially just flashing pixels or putting up patterns. If flashing a pattern for a while fixed pixels they would like get better on their own after thousands of hours of usage.

Maybe the rubbing has like a 1% chance, but even that seems very dubious to me. It's up there with banging on your TV when reception is bad.
